The 1961 Cedar Bluff Tigers were chosen Class A State Champions by the Birmingham News from District 3.
The Cedar Bluff Tigers swept to their third straight Choccolocco Conference football title with a season ending 37-0 win over Gaylesville. The win propelled the Tigers a 4-0 conference record, a perfect 10-0 season and the 1961 state championship. The Tigers also finished all three seasons undefeated in conference play and an overall 28-1-1 record.
The Tigers outscored the opposition 266-27 and shutout seven opponents. Their only close game came against a strong Gaston team. The Tigers were coached by L.D. Bruce with H.E. Arnold Jr. assisting. The captains were Wilbur Pruitt and Jim Bouchillion.
